Long time subscriber Rafal asks:
“What resource (book, online article or course) would you recommend for learning the basics of adwords?
I know I can just google it but because I trust you I would prefer to focus on the right piece of information.
Firstly, thanks for your trust.
And well done for wanting to focus – that is the key here.
There’s a LOT of free and paid AdWords information out there. It’s often good, and it’s often highly technical (although I find a lot of it overly technical and light on insights).
Your biggest hurdle will not be lack of information, but information overload.
You need to learn just enough to get off the launch pad and start buying traffic. Once you’re up and running, you should then learn what’s needed to take you to the next level – WHEN you need it.
Nothing beats dipping your hand in your pocket every day to help you focus! 🙂
MY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LEARNING ADWORDS:
1) Get Perry Marshall’s book: “Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords”
I pretty much started here, and it’s excellent because Perry is an excellent marketer first and foremost. I read this, and then really got stuck in. Anything else I direct you to will likely keep you in the learning loop longer than you need to be.
2) Continue following my free stuff
My free email series, and posts on my blog, are designed to help you get your mindset right so that you can make sense of all the conflicting opinions out there. Once you know WHAT to do and WHY, then you can come up with your own ways HOW to do it (and more easily spot how solid anyone else’s grasp of AdWords is).
3) Stay tuned
I work with a few select clients where I manage campaigns and coach their AdWords specialists.
I’ve always wanted to help more businesses and entrepreneurs than I can interact with one-to-one … including those that don’t have thousands to spend on my services.
I want to help you get off the launch pad as soon as possible, without breaking your bank. And I then want to be there to help you take your business to the next level.
I’m just trying to work out how to make it affordable, actionable, and focused.
So stay tuned if you want to get some skin in the game … without losing your shirt! 🙂
